Info Post
Despite all hype about the world’s failing economy, 2009 was actually a good year for most filmmakers in Hollywood. A lot of blockbuster movies were released this year. Tons of independent movie outfits scored big with their small-budgeted films which received a surprisingly, warm reception from moviegoers around the globe. Some of the films were merely installments for huge movie franchises derived from books but had enough star power to shake their previous box-office standings. One even had the gall to go back to the basics, instead of moving forward. Yet, that step back from the future also became a huge milestone to promote gender equality. We thought we’ve spent too much money on this director’s previous box-office giant, but he gave us another reason to shell out our precious bucks to see his latest monster hit.

Here is a list of the top 10 best movies which came out last year and early this year. We have to make it clear though that this random list was primarily based on the movie’s’ box-office success, cultural impact, breakthrough performances by the casts and the number of awards the movie had received after they were released in the theaters.

1. Avatar

2. New Moon

3. The Blind Side

4. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

5. Invictus

6. The Princess and the Frog

7. The Hangover

8. The Hurt Locker
